Home Recording Project

I have been singing since I was very small, often soloing in church while my mom played piano. As an adult never really did much other than the occasional karaoke night, but I have always wanted to be involved with music. To be honest, I'm embarrassed that it took me this long.

In January of 2023, my dad brought it up and lit a fire under me. In his final days he wanted to hear me sing again, so I did a small show for him in his hospital room. I mostly sang John Denver songs because he was one of my dad's favorites, and I still remembered them all from childhood. Before he went to sleep that night he told me that I should record my voice for others to hear. It was one of the last things he ever said, and I promised him that I would.

So here we are, launching this project on January 31, 2026 - Exactly three years after my dad passed away.

This project is in honor of my mom, who taught me to sing, and my dad who loved to listen.

Home Recording Sessions

January 31, 2026 - I am launching this website today, and have been working for several months to record cover songs while I am taking online classes to learn the DAW (recording software.) Logic Pro is complicated, but absolutely awesome.

In the coming weeks I will be releasing songs that I have recorded. Sign up for email updates and you'll receive email notifications as new songs are released.

Original Songs

Home Recording Sessions

Over the years I have written the beginnings, middles or ends of quite a few songs, but they never felt quite right. In the last year I started putting those bits together and have now "finished" five or six originals. Lots of ideas still rattling around in my head, so hopefully more comes out.

My goal is to put together a couple of single releases, which will always be uploaded here for you first, then released to Spotify, Apple Music, etc.

Children's Songs

Home Recording Sessions

When my granddaughter, Margot, hears me playing my guitar, she sometimes requests her favorite tunes. The first was Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star, so I recorded a few versions that she could sing along to with her brothers, Bennett and Gideon. Now I am learning and recording more children's songs to add to their Yoto card, so they can listen and sing along no matter where they are.

If you are a grandparent, I highly recommend that you look into Yoto cards and devices for your grandchildren. You can record yourself reading their favorite stories, books, or sing to them, and they will always have your voice close at hand.

FAQ.

My dad passed away in 2023, and in his final days he asked me to sing to him in the hospital room. It was a John Denver-heavy show because he was one of my dad's favorites, and I remember them all from childhood. • Do an Open Mic Show?

Let's find out if I'm any good first.

Why.

One of my goals has long been to record covers of music that I love, and/or songs that I have written. I'm not getting any younger, so now seems like a good time to start.

The software, and the process of recording and mixing your own music, is pretty complicated, especially from a beginner's perspective. I am currently taking a class on Logic Pro, and at the same time I am recording cover songs to help teach myself the software as I go. I am trying to create an immersive experience... at least as much I can make it from my tiny home studio.

I have written a handful of original songs, and have lots more ideas that I'm working on, so those will eventually be added here too.
