Headed back to Nashville
We're headed to Nashville to visit with the kids next week, and hopefully the new grandbaby will make an appearance while we are there. Already four days overdue, so could be any time now.
Back from TN Trip
Spent this weekend in Tennessee visiting with the kids. Back now and working on a new song. Stay tuned.

Exploring 80’s Music to Cover
There have been so many amazing covers of 80's songs done in the last 40 years. I would have thought it sacrilegious if I hadn't heard it for myself, but if you haven't heard Greg Laswell's version of This Woman's Work, you should. Amazing.
New Recording Started
While I'm not releasing the names of the songs I have been recording, I started a new one today. After about three takes it sounded pretty messy and not great, but the last was definitely the clearest/strongest. It's pretty obvious that I need to find some vocal exercises and warmups to do before I try to record anything.
Beautiful day in Houston…
About to go on my daily walk through downtown Houston. Very fortunate to live close enough to walk into downtown. It's exactly three miles from our house to Discovery Green and back.
Decent Recording Today
I've been working on a song that will likely be the first release in the "Covers" column. I got a couple of good takes today, but still needs improvement. I'll get there eventually...
Website Getting Close
This website build has been fun, but I'm looking forward to finishing and showing it off a bit. Still working to get the audio working properly with uploads, but we'll get there. Stay tuned!
Voice feeling a bit better
Had a scratchy throat the last few days that seems to have cleared. Will try to get some recording in this week.
Something to Think About
"Evil" is not some mysterious invisible force that lands on us, causes harm, and moves on to the next unsuspecting victim. Evil is only ever done by humans, and left unchecked, we tend to wield it with abandon.
Conversely, "good" isn't flying about protecting you from the evil that humans do. Good humans recognize their own potential for doing evil things, and stop doing those things. Intelligent humans demand the same of those they keep around, and dismiss those who refuse to control themselves.
The best humans understand that holding others back from their progress does not elevate either person. Instead, they help lift.
Life is short. Let's try not to be evil.
Learned About Open-Back Headphones
When I tried my first recordings, wearing headphones meant that I couldn't hear myself, and every take I tried was awful. Picked up a pair of open-back headphones and problem solved! I don't feel so disconnected from my own voice. Huge difference.
